The Hong Kong SAR Government takes the lead to spearhead initiatives to conserve energy and promote energy efficiency. Energy conservation and efficiency reduces energy consumption and is conducive to a better environment for society. The energy saving competition titled "Hong Kong Energy Efficiency Awards" aims to promote best practices, recognise efforts and honour successes in energy efficiency and conservation for organisations and the public in Hong Kong.

The Awards are organised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), and supported by the CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, the Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited and the Hongkong Electric Company Limited. Winners of the Awards will be selected among the participants by a Judging Panel based on the achievements in the energy saving competition.
